ACS Skill Assessment | Guide to Australian Migration

Australian Computer Society (ACS)

The Australian Computer Society is the official accessing authority appointed by the Ministry Of Immigration for the purpose of finding skilled engineers who are willing to migrate and work as skilled ICT Professionals in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria For ACS Skill Assessment

1. Temporary Graduates

For a candidate with a bachelor’s degree or higher in ICT, closely connected to the nominated occupation, work experience in the field is not necessary.

2. Post Australian Study Skills Assessment

For someone with a bachelor’s degree or higher in ICT related to the occupation, they need either 1 year of work experience or completion of the ACS Professional Year Program.

3. General Skill Assessment

Candidates who hold their tertiary ICT qualification and employment can obtain a general skill assessment.

ICT Major

  • If you have a bachelor’s degree or higher closely related to your job, you need to have worked in a relevant field for either two years in the last 10 years or four years anytime in your work history to qualify.
  • If your degree isn’t closely related to your job but is still a bachelor’s or higher, you must show four years of relevant work experience from any time in your past jobs.
  • For those who completed a diploma, advanced, or associate degree closely linked to their job, you should have either worked five years in the last 10 years or six years anytime in your work history.
  • If your diploma or degree isn’t closely related to your job, you need six years of relevant work experience from any time in your work history to meet the requirements.

ICT Minor

  • To qualify for the job, you need either a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field along with 5 years of recent work experience, or you can have at least 6 years of relevant work experience at any time in the past.
  • To be eligible for the position with a bachelor’s degree or higher in an unrelated field, you must have at least 6 years of relevant work experience accumulated at any point in your past.

4. Recognition Prior Learning

  • Candidates holding tertiary qualifications without sufficient ICT content in their degree would need 6 years of relevant work experience, completed anytime in your work history, along with the best quality RPL application to meet the criteria.
  • Applicants with no recognized tertiary qualification will require 8 years of work experience along with the best quality RPL application.

Required Document for ACS

Personal Documents

1. Passport or Birth Certificates

Applicants should send ACS color scans. You are required to show the identity page of your Passport, which includes your name and address among other details.

2.  Evidence of Name Change Document

Also, in the case of a name change, you must send a clear color scan of the supporting document.

3. Curriculum Vitae/ Resume

You must attach your CV in the personal section of the application form; this is the requirement from the ACS.

Qualification documents

1. Academic qualification

You will need to upload a good color scan of your academic transcript and an award certificate or completion record, related to your Australian Qualification. As well, you will be expected to upload evidence in the form of a bachelor’s qualification, if you have added a master’s qualification in your qualification documents. Your qualification documents should contain the following information.

  • Title/ Degree in Education.
  • Name of University where awarding of the Degree took place.
  • The expected completion date of the college degree.
  • List showing details of all courses taken along with the mark/grade earned therein indicating every unit or subject separately.

2. Vendor qualification

To become a Microsoft Vendor, applicants will be required to provide the vendor logon details for authentication purposes. Upon successful form submission, you will be asked to apply your Cisco Provider Certification logon credentials for application. You can attach this data in file format.

3. Reference letter

An applicant shall submit a coloured scan of their job referees on business letterhead or statutory declaration.
