The Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand (IML ANZ) is the government-contracted assessing authority for senior-level management occupations under Australia’s skilled migration program. It evaluates whether your overseas management qualifications and professional experience meet Australian standards for your nominated occupation.
The assessment reviews both your academic background and employment history up to 10 years of work experience are considered, and it evaluates your role in terms of Australian industry guidelines for strategic leadership.
A positive outcome from the Institute is accepted by the Department of Home Affairs as proof of skills comparability for skilled visa applications, including

CDR australiaengineer specialises in high-quality CDR, RPL and VETASSESS reports for engineers. We offer low-cost, customized and reliable services in diverse engineering disciplines.
Unlike most other assessing bodies, the Institute does not require IELTS or any English language proficiency test as part of the management skills assessment.
Having an IML ANZ membership does not make you excluded from the migration skills assessment, nor does a prior membership-based competency rating guarantee a favorable assessment result.
Important: The Statement of Service is the most critical document. Generic HR employment letters usually do not meet the assessment requirements.
Step 1: Confirm Scope and ANZSCO Code
Select the correct ANZSCO code, confirm the occupation is within the ssessment scope, and review the official assessment criteria.
Step 2: Assess Your Eligibility
Determine whether your qualification is relevant to your nominated occupation. Calculate your years of senior strategic management experience. Confirm you can evidence delegated authority, management of managers, and budgetary control.
Step 3: Prepare Your Documents
Write a detailed Statement of Service on company letterhead. Compile a signed organization chart, senior-level reference letters, and your full CV. Have non-English documents NAATI-translated.
Step 4: Submit Online and Pay
Only online applications are accepted. Lodge your complete application, incomplete submissions or inconsistent documents will delay processing beyond the standard timeframe.
Step 5: Verification and Outcome
Assessors may contact your referees to confirm the authority levels you have stated. You will receive a letter of positive outcome that you can include with your visa application. A review or appeal may be filed within the allotted time if the result is negative.
Our expert consultants will assess your profile and recommend the best pathway for your Australian migration goals.
All fees are non-refundable and payable at the time of lodgement. Applications can only be submitted online through the IML portal.

Processing time: Most of the complete applications are typically processed within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of submission. An express service may be available for an additional fee, which aims to deliver outcomes within approximately 6 weeks. However, delays may occur based on how complicated the application is or whether there are problems like uncertified translations, missing documents, or inaccurate occupation checklists.
Refund policy: A $50 administrative fee will be deducted if an application is withdrawn within two business days of submission. After the initial two business days, no refunds are available regardless of outcome.
Validity: A positive assessment outcome is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. An extension can be requested before expiry for a fee of A$158 (excl. GST).
The IML ANZ skills assessment is arguably the most document-sensitive assessment in the skilled migration program. Assessors are specifically trained to identify vague or overstated claims of seniority, and a generic Statement of Service written by your HR department will not meet the criteria.
Our team at CDRAustraliaEngineers has supported professionals across all major assessing bodies, including CEOs, General Managers, HR Directors, Engineering Managers, and Procurement leaders.
What we do for you:
✔ Free eligibility check and strategic authority assessment
✔ Occupation specific Statement of Service writing on your company letterhead format
✔ Guidance and review of organizational charts
✔ Briefing on senior-level reference letters (what your referees should say)
✔ Complete document evaluation in accordance with the evaluation standards
✔ Express application preparation in case of urgency
✔ Review and appeal support if outcome is not positive
If your Statement of Service or reference letter lacks clarity and does not meet the requirements, it may lead to delays, loss of application fee and even rejection. Our team does step-by-step reviewing of your documents and seniority level, checking for missing evidence of strategic authority, and preparing documentation that aligns with your specific ANZSCO occupation criteria.
Formal qualifications are not mandatory. A minimum of three years of senior management experience is necessary if your degree is relevant to your chosen career; if not, five years are needed. What matters the most is clear, documented evidence of strategic authority.
The Institute assesses senior-level management occupations only, such as roles with strategic decision-making authority, budgetary control, etc. VETASSESS handles mid-level managers, supervisors, and operational roles. Applying to the wrong body means paying the full fee for an unsuccessful outcome.
You will need academic transcripts and degree certificates, a detailed CV covering up to 10 years of management history, Statement of Service, a signed organization chart showing your reporting lines, and reference letters. Non-English documents require NAATI-certified translations.
The most common reason for a rejected application is failing to demonstrate strategic authority. Other reasons include vague reference letters, an organizational chart that reveals misinformation, and inconsistencies between the CV and the Statement of Service.
Standard processing takes up to 10 weeks from the date of application and 6 weeks for express service, though it is not guaranteed and depends on application volume at the time of lodgement. Regardless of the service you choose, incomplete applications or inconsistent documents will cause processing to take longer than expected.
Yes. Both onshore and offshore applicants are eligible and follow the same process. Overseas applicants pay the fee excluding GST A$788 for the standard migration skills assessment versus A$866 for applicants residing in Australia.
